Joshua 11:1-23
The Lord said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel, slain. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots."
This passage is pretty long and sort of repetitive to read... it talks about the war against the northern kingdoms and their kings in the Promised Land. The above verse stuck out in my brain as odd, until the idea came to me suddenly: LORD didn't want any of Israel's enemies to escape.
In my own life, it seems that often some of the spiritual issues I'm grappling with get away rather than get defeated. Instead of them being completely dealt with, sometimes they just slip away... only to come back again and bite me in my backside. =/
